I am a dedicated and driven individual with a versatile range of skills and the confidence to go out and achieve my goals. I have worked in various creative industries ranging from publishing, advertising, marketing, fashion and education. Currently I am the Senior Technical Lecturer at the University of Cape Town within the Michaelis School of Fine Art. Over the years I have excelled in all aspects of creative endeavour ranging from Desktop Publishing, Photography, Photo-manipulation, Animation, Video Editing and Web Design. I have found my calling in the need to want to impart knowledge and shape the future fine artists, graphic designers, journalists and public relation students with the necessary skills they require to be successful in the ever demanding and extremely competitive workplace. I maintain a high level of work ethic amongst my students and always aim to challenge and push them to achieve the highest standards possible.

Educational Qualifications

 

• Matric Exemption with Distinctions from Glenwood High School in 2001.

  Studied Art, History, English, Mathematics, Physics and Afrikaans.

 

• Bachelor of Technology Degree: Fine Art completed in 2005 at the Durban University of Technology.

Majored in Photography - studied Adobe Photoshop for photo-manipulation and Macromedia Freehand

MX for layouts. Darkroom work, photo shoots and setup, lighting and photograph printing.

Painting - usage of various mediums, contemporary practice and history of painting methods, murals

and painting critique.

Drawing - illustrations, portraits and figure drawing, negative spaces, indoor and outdoor sketching.

Printmaking - silkscreening, etching, tile cut, printing processes.

Video Art - shooting and editing video footage on Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro. Converting from DV

tape to digitized version on PC.

Art History and Art Theory - elements of form, styles, contemporary practice, Modernism, Postmodernism, design and creative practice, art critique, concepts of appropriation, brainstorming of ideas and thinking

creatively.

 

• Arts Administration and Marketing completed in 2005 at the University of KwaZulu Natal.

Plans and administration processes. Starting a

business opportunity and following through with

finance and setting up of all related issues.
